VICTIM: Viewing child porn isn’t harmless. Viewers “are dads, brothers, sons. This could be your sister”

Here’s a powerful testimonial from a young woman who was just one of many teen victims of pornographic extortion — by a very sick man who ruined many girls’ lives.

Chansler told detectives he targeted children because adult women were “too smart” to fall for his scheme. Investigators found thousands of videos and photos on his computers, including recordings of girls crying and pleading with him to stop and one girl holding a handwritten sign with a single word: “rape.” […]

For victims, she said, “it’s psychologically damaging. It’s not fair. People think victims of child pornography are not touched. It’s not like rape. It’s just overlooked. … They don’t realize what we’re doing when we have to send those pictures. We’re doing it ourselves. We’re forced to. … We could not say no.”

Reynolds said the people who look at the pictures “are dads and brothers and sons.” She wants to tell them, “This could be your sister.”

They are creating the demand, the marketplace that is being catered to by the child pornography producers and extortionists.

“You’re contributing to it. You can’t be a law-abiding citizen if you’re contributing to extortion,” Reynolds said. “People send out those pictures and make them public because of people who view them.”

Google Has Tagged A Vast Database Of Child Porn Images — Making Them Impossible To See

It’s great to see Google using their power and resources to do something so productive to combat child pornography!

[Business Insider] — Google is going to start using a database of thousands of pornographic images and videos of children to block people from searching them.

The BBC reports that “digital fingerprints” of known child sex abuse photographs, identified and compiled by a UK charity called the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), will be used to generate flags that prevent browsers from accessing them. […]

“This is important because every single image or video is of a real child being sexually abused and every time someone views that image or video that child is re-victimised.”

Exactly! Go Google! We hope many others follow this lead and do their *own* part to end all forms of sexual abuse, but in particular online child sexual abuse. (Aka “child pornography.”)

“John Grisham: men who watch child porn are not all paedophiles” (Does adult porn lead to child porn?)

Novelist John Grisham thinks penalties for “child porn” viewers are too harsh. We disagree. What do *you* think?

“We have prisons now filled with guys my age. Sixty-year-old white men in prison who’ve never harmed anybody, would never touch a child… But they got online one night and started surfing around, probably had too much to drink or whatever, and pushed the wrong buttons, went too far and got into child porn.”

The author of legal thrillers such as The Firm and A Time to Kill who has sold more than 275m books during his 25-year career, cited the case of a “good buddy from law school” who was caught up in a Canadian child porn sting operation a decade ago as an example of excessive sentencing.

“His drinking was out of control, and he went to a website. It was labelled ‘sixteen year old wannabee hookers or something like that’. And it said ’16-year-old girls’. So he went there. Downloaded some stuff – it was 16 year old girls who looked 30.
“He shouldn’t ’a done it. It was stupid, but it wasn’t 10-year-old boys. He didn’t touch anything. And God, a week later there was a knock on the door: ‘FBI!’ and it was sting set up by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to catch people – sex offenders – and he went to prison for three years.”

~ After the above interview was published there was great public outrage. Then John Grisham ‘apologized’ on his website. It’s good he did this, but was he sincere, or just doing some necessary PR damage control to try to calm people’s upset and salvage his reputation and career? We can’t help but wonder…

For the record, there have been numerous peer-reviewed studies which have documented a link between viewing of child pornography and the committing of sex crimes against children in “real life” by those porn viewers.

~ Finally, here’s an example of a man who is dealing with child pornography and his attraction to children properly — by NOT using child porn, or sexual offending, but instead by supporting anti-pornography efforts, including our organization:

“I am a 23 year old male, and I am opposed to porn. Although I see a few benefits to SOME porn, I also see the harm.

I must admit, I am sexually attracted to children mainly, and to young looking adults. (No, I have not comitted any sexual act with a child, as I am against it.) I study psychology and see the harm it does to children, and as a result see the harm to adults can be the same.

I support non-harmful means for a person to have sexual release, but real porn causes too much harm. It can help a single man, or woman, but I see more harm in the world.

The main concern is child abuse and child sex abuse, which is good, but these pornographic behaviors in many houses are hurting children and adults. I am glad to see an organization addressing these problems. So, I have started donating and plan to donate more.”

Police did NOTHING to track down victim of CHILD PORN SNUFF FILM – 14 year old girl raped & strangled

A REAL CHILD PORN SNUFF FILM HAS BEEN DISCOVERED — of the rape and murder of 14 year old girl. So it’s NOT a “myth” — as some would like to believe. Details below.

WARNING — EXTREMELY GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING!!

[Express UK] — The existence of “snuff” pornography, in which the victim is killed on camera, has long been rumoured, but until last year no police officer had ever seen one.

A film seized during a raid on a Latvian man’s house in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, shows a teenage girl begging a man not to hurt her before she is raped, then strangled with a wire causing her to foam at the mouth and her eyes to roll back into her head.

She is then wrapped tightly in a plastic sheet and dragged from the room.

The police officer leading the inquiry was convinced she was murdered.

The judge who sentenced Andreas Bauminis, 22, to eight months in jail for possessing that film and other material in March also said she was probably killed.

From her accent, police believe the girl to be American, but despite having images of her and her apparent killer for 15 months, they have done nothing to help trace them.

Internet Child Pornography: Who Is at the Keyboard? – More than 99% are men (Via Huffington Post)

Here’s a very informative article about who’s really watching child pornography. It’s notable that less than 1% are women.

[Huffington Post] – You may be tempted to think that no one you know could ever be viewing child pornography, but unfortunately, that is probably not the case. Alarmingly, it is among the fastest growing businesses online. Internet child pornography offenses occur when someone downloads, collects and circulates child pornography. It’s also child abuse. My last blog on this subject painted the tragic broad picture of this crime against children. All child pornography offenses, including possession, are extremely serious because they result in perpetual harm to the child and validate and normalize the sexual exploitation of children.

There is quite a bit of research done on sex offenders who have physical contact with their victims, but, research on Internet child pornography offenders and what type of danger they pose to children is still relatively new. One way to learn more about these perpetrators is through their arrest records.

According to the National Crimes Against Children Research Center, an excellent resource for this topic, arrests for crimes involving child pornography grew significantly between 2000 and 2006 and again in 2009. In 2009, there were 4,901 arrests compared to 3,672 in 2006 and 1,713 in 2000. Interestingly, those who were arrested in 2009 were more diverse ethnically and racially, but the great majority of those arrested were non-Hispanic white men. They weren’t concentrated in any specific geographic location, and their levels of income and education varied widely. Two-thirds were single, about one-quarter lived with children under the age of 18 and about one-quarter had problems with drugs and alcohol. In 2009, similar to 2006, about 20 percent of the offenders were between the ages of 18 to 25; while the majority of men who viewed child pornography were 26 or older. In 2009, more offenders had child pornography videos in their possession.

SAD STATISTICS: 116,000 daily requests for child pornography. 100,000 websites offer illegal child porn. 11 is average age of first Internet porn exposure. 1 in 7 youths have received sexual solicitation.

Wow. And what’s even sadder is that these stats are from a few years ago. From what we can tell, things have only gotten worse since then… Heartbreaking. If only as many people who have children would work on this issue or contribute to it, things wouldn’t be nearly this bad…
