Google Glass Porn App in Development (Wired UK)

Sadly and unsurprisingly pornography is on it’s way to Google Glass. Apparently public porn on phones is too far from one’s eyes! So beware, everyone. Soon people are going to be walking down the street or driving with Google Glass on — watching porn as they go. Not to mention possibly filming you! Yikes!

[Wired UK] — In “Things That Were Only A Matter Of Time” news, adult app creator MiKandi has announced it is working on a porn app for Google Glass.

The suitability of the hands-free system for pornography isn’t hard to fathom, but MiKandi is hoping to produce a product which goes beyond the scope of existing porn options.

The situation, described to ZDNet by co-founder Jennifer McEwen, suggests that the company is interested in exploring the aspects of Glass which would lend themselves to creating porn videos from the perspective of the wearer.

“Because it feels so natural, you can forget about the technology and just be in the moment,” she said. “On top of that, with Glass you can share and interact with fans and followers, allowing them intimate access to your experiences. It’s like Being John Malkovich where you’re viewing the world through someone else’s eyes.”

Obviously, this could have significant implications in terms of potential breaches of privacy so, perhaps once the app launches, beware of unnecessarily bespectacled liaisons.

“Speaking of Prostitution” — VERY HELPFUL responses to all common arguments that support prostitution

Here’s a great post on how prostitution affects ALL society. It’s from the excellent resource “Speaking of Prostitution,” (by the European group Kvinnofronten), which all anti-prostitution people should read, as it will help you deal with all of the common pro-prostitution arguments you will encounter.

“Oppression of women:

This is good to keep in mind when we see how celebrity prostitution glamorizers describe prostitution as something sexually “liberated” or even as “women’s right to do what they want with their own bodies” – in magazines, TV, and on the Internet.

These prostitution glamorizers often talk about prostitution as if it only concerns one particular woman and one particular man right at that particular moment, as if they were isolated from everything and everyone else – as if prostitution happens in a vacuum, unaffected by society’s gender norms and gender power structures. They don’t see, or they don’t want to see, that prostitution is about sexualization of power. Power based on gender, power based on class, power based on ethnicity.

Prostitution exists, as does everything else, in a context. In turn, prostitution also affects society – especially society’s view of gender.”

“Whatever its legal status, prostitution causes great harm to women.

►In the Netherlands, where prostitution is legal, 60% of prostituted women suffered physical assaults; 70% experienced verbal threats of physical assault; 40% experienced sexual violence; and 40% had been forced into prostitution or sexual abuse by acquaintances.

►In Germany where brothel prostitution is legal, 59% of German women told researchers that they did not think that legal prostitution made them any safer from rape and physical assault.

►Of 845 people in prostitution in nine countries (Canada, Colombia, Germany, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, United States, and Zambia), 71% experienced physical assaults in prostitution and 62% reported rapes in prostitution. 89% percent told researchers that they wanted to leave prostitution but did not have other options for economic survival.”

It’s an excellent analysis, but strangely seems to omit the elephant in the room — the most powerful sexually objectifying form of media in existence — PORNOGRAPHY! Oh well, hopefully the viewers of it will understand that when the speaker is referring to “sexually objectifying media,” that PORN is included in this category, and not just images from advertising!

[The Age] — Technology has enabled the proliferation of pornography, making it so pervasive that it has become the main sex educator for many young people. This is a profound problem because it gives a distorted view of sexuality and human relations, predominantly involves violence against women and encourages hazardous practices.

It is causing young people confusion and anxiety, and they are feeling pressure to mimic acts that are common in pornography but that many girls, in particular, find distasteful, degrading or painful.

Research shows more than nine in 10 Australian boys aged 13 to 16 and more than six in 10 girls in the same age group have seen pornography online. They can seek it out anonymously and effortlessly. Many, too, stumble upon it inadvertently through internet search engines.

Today’s guest in The Zone has worked for more than a decade with young people and sexuality, and is the joint leader of a project called Reality and Risk, which seeks to arm young people – and parents, carers and educators – with information and confidence to think critically about pornography and the messages it conveys about women, men and sex.

Maree Crabbe has worked with young people for 20 years, and has focused on sexuality and sexual health for the past decade, developing and presenting programs about sexual violence prevention, sexual diversity and prevention of sexually transmissible infections.
In our interview, the full transcript of which – as well as a short video statement by Crabbe – is at theage.com.au/opinion/the-zone, she gives advice to young people and adults and sets out the scope of the pornography issue.

”Pornography has become incredibly accessible … and more aggressive. What was most accessible a couple of decades ago was a centrefold – a still image of a naked or semi-naked woman. Now what is most accessible is moving imagery of people having sex, often quite aggressively. It is shaping the ways that many people are thinking about and experiencing sexuality.”

A fundamental concern is the predominance of violence, the overwhelming majority of which is against women. Crabbe cites a 2010 analysis by US academic psychologist Ana Bridges that found 88 per cent of scenes in pornographic videos portrayed physical aggression, while nearly half contained verbal aggression. The aggression is not random – 94 per cent of it was perpetrated against women. And more than nine in 10 of those acts of aggression were met with a neutral or a positive response by the targets – the female performers following the scripts.

Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer courts controversy by saying that porn sites can STAY after $1.1b purchase of Tumblr

CEO Marissa Mayer has no plans to clean up the “rich” non “brand-safe content” (aka PORN) at Tumblr, after Yahoo’s purchase of the blogging platform.

This is very disappointing! Mayer had the chance to do the right thing and to chose profit over caring about humanity. SAD. This is why our society is going downhill in so many ways…

[Daily Mail] — Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer said that the company does not ‘intend’ to take down any of the porn-heavy sites that are run on Tumblr after the tech giant acquired the blogging platform for $1.1billion.

The sale created a great deal of uproar from Tumblr purists who fear that Yahoo’s involvement will dramatically alter the platform that they know and love, but Mayer has done her best to tone down those concerns.

Asked whether she was planning to address the X-rated sites hosted on Tumblr- like ‘Red Hot Porn’, ‘Secretary Sex’ and ‘Porn and Weed’- since they are less ‘brand safe’ she said no.

‘I think the richness and breadth of content available on Tumblr – even though it may not be as brand safe as what’s on our site – is what’s really exciting and allows us to reach even more users,’ she said on Monday.

‘One of the ways to start measuring our growth story here is around traffic and users, and this obviously produces a lot of that.

‘In terms of how to address advertisers’ concerns around brand safety, we need to have good tools for targeting.’

During a conference call, Mayer alluded to another tech giant by quoting a line from the film The Social Network which was a narrative account of the founding of Facebook.

‘It’s like the line from The Social Network movie: “Why would you monetize it? You don’t even know what ‘it’ is yet,”‘ she told investors.

‘In terms of the integration between the two sites, we plan to operate and brand and grow Tumblr separately from Yahoo.

FBI pornography investigation turns up photo of an apparently dead (and probably raped) infant in bondage with a noose around her neck

Here’s a horrific story about a young man with a huge child pornography collection, including some porn of a raped INFANT with a bag over her head, a noose around her neck, and a degrading tattoo on her indicating that she had been raped!

This is a harsh reminder of why everyone needs to do your part to help with the cause. Donate, volunteer, do your own activism, whatever. Please just do SOMETHING to take a strong stand against these atrocities against humanity. (Mostly innocent women and children.) Thanks!

[Examiner] — A criminal complaint was filed Wednesday in Detroit federal court involving child pornography. An Adrian man was allegedly found in possession of more than 1,000 child porn images, including a photo of what appeared to be a dead infant with a noose around her neck, a bag over her head and a tattoo that said “nepi-rape, which authorities said translates into “the rape of the innocence.”

The suspect, Sean Gossman, is due in U.S. District Court today for an appearance on charges of receipt and possession of child pornography.

According to the criminal complaint filed Wednesday in federal court, the FBI was alerted to Gossman after a child found a thumb-drive on the ground last November while in Onsted Village Park in Onsted, in Lenawee County. A family member of the child turned the thumb drive over to the Cambridge Township Police, who found child pornographic pictures on it, along with photos of the suspect, the complaint said.

While conducting a computer forensic exam of the thumb drive, the FBI found 1,039 images of child pornography on it, including 28 images depicting bondage or torture, 10 movies, one movie involving bestiality, and 536 images of child erotica, the complaint said.

On April 5 the FBI obtained a search warrant and searched Gossman’s trailer with him present. Agents seized two laptops, several CD/DVDs and three thumb drives.

According to the complaint, Gossman-after being read his rights-indicated that all of the thumb drives were his, and admitted that he downloaded child erotica, then moved on to child pornographic images, and recently started downloading child porn movies.
